5 Essential Email Marketing Tips For Your Online Business

Email marketing is one of the most effective ways to build an online business. However to be effective you need to know a few essential email marketing tips. If you use these tips you will keep more subscribers for longer and make more sales.

Here are 5 email marketing tips that will help you send more effective emails.

1. Personalize Your Messages and Rewrite Them.

Forget copy and pasting those emails found in the affiliate marketing tools provided by merchants. It is highly likely that a lot of people will get that same email many times from different affiliates. They will read one and the same headline will have the rest sent to the trash bin. What are the odds of the message being read is your email?

If you personalize and rewrite these emails you will get a lot more of them opened. People also like to think you are talking to them so if you personalize your messages for each person it will entice more of them to open them.

2. Plain text or HTML messages.

More and more emails are sent in HTML these days so people are getting used to them. The problem with plain text emails are those ugly autoresponder links which indicate that the email is part of a mass mailing. People prefer text emails but I prefer to send plain HTML ones so that my links look better and hide those awful looking autoresponder tracking links.

3. Subject lines should be personalized and unique.

Do not send affiliate emails with the standard subject lines as people will get multiple emails with same subject line and will trash them instead of opening them. Also note that the subject line of your email is what gets your emails opened. You have to therefore write a subject line that will catch people’s attention and make them want to open your email.

4. Do not confuse people with your messages.

My guess is that you get some emails that leave you scratching your head but you can not be bothered figuring them out. So only send emails that are simple to understand and related to your niche. Do not, for example, send weight loss emails to your golfing niche even though you might think some of them could do to lose a bit of weight.

5. Have an unsubscribe button at the bottom of your messages.

Always have an unsubscribe button at the bottom of your messages so people do not feel trapped into not having the choice of getting your emails or not. People’s needs change so they may only want what you have to offer them while ever they are interested in that subject matter. Avoid those unsubscribe methods where they have to send you an email or key in their email address to unsubscribe. Some people are wary of scams today which send spam emails to capture email addresses. If people are trapped and do not want to be on your list anymore they are unlikely to continue reading them so give them the option of unsubscribing.
