How to Use a Squeeze Page to Grow a Targeted Email List

By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

The first thing one should understand, a squeeze page is a simple one page website used as lead capture, also known as lead capture software. The sole purpose of this site is list building, capturing a targeted email list. Therefore the whole idea is capture your leads attention and get them to opt-in to your email list.

This site must quickly draw attention to the visitor something of value to them. Typically we understand that you only have a few seconds to get their attention before they click off to another site. Therefore you must have something in front of them that sparks their interest immediately, something of real value to their specific need.

Many successful internet marketers use the approach of offering a free product or service for opting in. In today’s competitive market place the more one can offer the better. Remember you only have a few seconds to get their attention. A great headline and a valuable free offer right in their face is what a squeeze page is all about.

It is also important to understand that a lead capture page is just that, one page leading only to your opt-in form. Remember this site has only one purpose and that is to capture their name and email address. You never want any links that will distract or send them to another location. Also never try and sell anything on this page, it is not a sales page. The only thing you are selling on this page is the value your prospect will receive by giving you their name and email address.

By using lead capture software and the list building methods I mentioned above you are creating a targeted email list of customers. It is paramount for a successful enterprise to deal directly with customers pertaining to that niche. Therefore structure your squeeze page correctly and capture your targeted leads.

List Building – 3 Ways To Advertise Your Giveaway

By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Building a mailing list is one of the most important  – and one of the most satisfying – aspects of running your home based online business. Your mailing list can be considered a long-term investment…something that can provide an income for the future. Getting started on building a list is relatively straightforward; you need an auto-responder (preferably not a free version) and a squeeze page…plus something, say a short report, that you can give away as an ‘inducement’ for people to opt-in to your list.

This article does not cover the technical aspects of setting-up your list building page – there are plenty of tutorials available on line for this. Rather, this article covers three ways you can place an advertisement on high-traffic online websites (at little or no cost) thus giving you a good chance to build your list at a decent rate.

1. Place your report on Upload.com

Upload.com (part of CNET) attracts a huge amount of visitors and you can place your report on the site as a giveaway in return for an opt-in to your mailing list. Placing your report on Upload.com is free although there is the option to upgrade to paid insertions, giving faster approval times and other benefits. There is a three stage initial sign-up process, each requiring approval, to get through and this is time consuming, however, this is a one-off process and is worth the effort in order to tap into the potential of the site.

2. Use eBay Classified Ads

For a few dollars per month you can place a classified ad on eBay and, again, give away your report in return for an opt-in. In fact you have to put a price on the report (say $0.01) but in effect you will give away the report, since eBay allows you to place an opt-in form on the sales page. A professional looking description and adding some free graphics will make your ad that much more appealing to visitors.

3. Sign-up to Giveaway events

Giveaway events are, as the name suggests, online sites that host a giveaway for a fixed period (usually two to three weeks). You sign-up for the event as a contributor and upload your squeeze page URL. To do this is free, however there is almost always an option to upgrade to paying contributor (recommended by the way) and by paying, your product will be given preferential exposure to visitors. There are a number of websites that promote giveaway events (such as giveawayeventssite.com) – a web search will provide all the information you require.

Building your list can be done with little or no extra expenditure (over and above your regular business outgoings). You will need to make sure your giveaway report is of value and is your own work – don’t just hack a free PLR report together…spend some time putting together something of worthwhile, even to the extent of investing in some graphics if your budget can stand the additional pressure (if it cannot then you can search for free graphic generators on the Internet). With practise, puttiing together a list-building campaign will become second nature.

List Building Builds Your Online Business

By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

By creating an email list to market online you are actually building your business. List building is a sure method to develop targeted buyers. Lead capture software and good sales copy will create an email list that will ensure a sustainable online income.
Many new internet marketers usually become frustrated trying to market online. Most try many products or services without a customer list and unfortunately fail to make consistent sales. As a result many become disappointed in their online experience and think they can’t do it or it just can’t be done.
The facts are, “it can be done”! We see successful online business everyday in every niche one can think of. So why do so many newcomers fail online?
First, many fail to start at the beginning. In order to sell something one needs to have someone to sell to! What you decide to sell is not really that important. What you sale is more a personal issue, what you know, what you like, etc…  In the early stages of developing a business plan one needs to consider a customer list. List building must be at the forefront of any business, online or offline.
When a business plan focuses on sales more time is focused on advertizing and creating an email customer list than on the product itself. The effectiveness of this time will determine whether the business will be successful or not. If done correctly, in time your online business will depend less on search engine optimization and paid advertizing because your list becomes a sales generating machine.
It should be clear by now how important list building is to your business. Take action now to start building your email list using lead capture software, also known as a squeeze page. This is one of the most effective ways to generate your email list and develop your market.

How Lead Capture Software Can Help Grow Your List

By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Many people today are asking, how can I make money online?

A short answer to this question is you need a customer list. List building using lead capture software has become an all important tool to capture your audience attention and convince them to opt-in to your list.

Lead capture is typically a one page website also known as a squeeze page. With the proper headline describing a solution or a service that excites your audience, you invite them to sign up to your email list.

In many cases a powerful tool used to persuade your prospective customer is a free gift or service discount for opting into your list. This could be anything as long as your visitor sees value in the offer. Typically the more value to them the more likely they give you their name and email address.
Many newcomers to the internet are reluctant to even start building a list because many think building a simple website is too complicated. The truth is it is not complicated with today’s technology.

All that is required is a domain name, a hosting account and a one page website known as a lead capture or squeeze page.  Domain names are inexpensive about ten dollars a year. Hosting accounts range anywhere from free to whatever you can afford. Typically you can find quality hosting accounts for fewer than ten dollars a month.

As for building your one page lead capture website, it is now longer necessary to learn html code and become a so called webmaster. Today we are fortunate enough to have software that handles that task for us.

All we really need to do is add valuable content. Add a headline to draw their attention and an irresistible call to action. Then an opt-in form to capture their name and email address. Your site should be simple without any distractions like fancy flash animation etc…

6 Ways To Make Money Using Nothing More Than Your List

By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

An opt-in mailing list is generally considered to be essential to any online business, and it would be rare to find a commercial website, large or small, that does not have a form for the visitor to sign-up to. Even the most obscure micro-niche site can benefit immensely from building a mailing list, which enables a company to market their products and services via email.

With an opt-in system subscribers consent to receiving email communications from your company, thereby enabling you to keep your subscribers informed of currently available and future products and services. It is important to note that, when using an opt-in system for building a mailing list, any mail sent to the list is not considered spam in the legal sense.

Building a list should be considered crucial to the success of your online business and you should ensure you provide good content on both your site and mailings to help maintain and build your list. Apart from promoting your products and services, a subscriber list can also be used to earn income in other ways.  Once you have a large, responsive list you will be able to market the list in its own right. Here are six ways to do just that:

  1. Offer a compilation of your articles to your list. You can compile a number of your articles on a given subject into an eBook. Customers are very willing to purchase such compilations as a means to solving any problems they may have and, with your existing list trusting your expertise in that given area, an eBook could be offered or given away as an incentive.
  2. Offer advertising on your mailings. Many companies are prepared to pay for advertising on mailings / newsletters that are sent out to a large list, in much the same way as print or other media advertising works. You should populate your newsletter with a significant number of ads, each one being a source of additional income.
  3. Build a network using your list. You should encourage and offer incentives to your subscribers to get others to visit your site and to join your list. It goes without saying that the larger your list is the more valuable it becomes, thus enabling you to increase your advertising rates.
  4. Form affiliations. Form affiliations with companies that offer the same products and services as you do. These companies will provide links to what they offer, and every click made on the link that directs or leads a subscriber from your list to their site, the company will pay you. In addition, you can make deals with these companies by asking for a small percentage of sales done through your list.
  5. Purchase stock for sale. You may also wish to purchase products from other sites on a wholesale basis and offer them to your list via your mailing. You will need to include descriptions, articles and photos of each product in your newsletter. This can also be carried out on a drop-ship basis.
  6. People are willing to pay for information if they know that it can be trusted and relied upon. Use your list to get more and more people to subscribe to you as well as browse your site. Do not forget that you can also use your list to earn money by inviting your subscribers to become your business partners. Your list will soon become the cornerstone of your business growth.

How to Build your Opt in List with Google Adwords

By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Friday, March 5th, 2010

The challenge of building a targeted email subscriber list haunts many aspiring marketers. You have two options. Build your list quickly by spending money on acquiring prospective customers. Increase your subscriber count slowly, through expanding your existing marketing base. When attempting to expand your business quickly, Google Adwords presents an attractive alternative to acquiring opt in subscribers.

Google offers an advertising program known as Adwords, where you will create an advertisement, and then pay per click for each visitor that comes to your site. When someone searches for a particular keyword in the Google search engine, your ad will show up on the top or to the side of the results.

So how does this benefit your list building efforts?

When a visitor clicks your advertisement, they will be directed to your page, meaning that you have an excellent opportunity to collect their information, through the use of an email subscription box.

Beware! When using this service, there are many pitfalls that can quickly eat through your advertising budget. The difference, between following and not following these tips, can mean that you will pay ten times as much in order to gain an email subscriber.

Google Adwords utilizes quality scores, in order to ensure that people who visit their search results are not redirected to junk pages. Junk advertisements could decrease the relevancy of their search engine results, sending potential customers to competitors such as Yahoo Search or Bing.

The Google quality score ranges from one to ten, with ten being a perfect score. Generally speaking, a higher quality score results in significantly lower costs per opt in list conversion.

Here are some tips to lower the price of your opt in conversion rate costs. Handbags will be used as the keyword example.

1.) Try to register a domain name with the keyword, which you are trying to advertise. For example, handbagshop.com will give you an increased quality score for the word handbag.

2.) Write keyword specific content. Google does not appreciate spam landing pages. Attempt to write at least 400 words of specific content about the keyword.

3.) Bid on less common keywords. Competition is high for single word terms. Try to expand your keyword research. Instead of bidding on the keyword handbag, try longer terms such as designer handbags, purple purse, or fashion bags. The more specific your keywords, the less you will pay per conversion rate for an email list subscriber. In addition, highly targeted customers are more likely to purchase goods and services from you.

4.) For each of these obscure keywords, create an individual page with the keyword as the title. For example, when bidding on the keyword fashion bags, write a 400 word article with the title as fashion bags.

5.) Utilize negative keywords. If a prospective opt in email list subscriber uses one of these keywords in their internet search, they will not see your advertisement. For example, someone searching for free handbags is not likely to purchase your product, and your advertising money has been wasted.

6.) Bid high at first. You can always lower your bids later on, as your quality score improves. Higher bids mean increased rankings in the advertising algorithms. Google Adwords appreciates high click through rates on their advertisements, and they will reward you with lower bid prices. If you initially start with low bids, raising your quality score is much more difficult.

To build their opt in email lists, many entrepreneurs have utilized Google Adwords with great effectiveness. While learning the ins and outs of pay per click list building, there exists a steep learning curve. Following these tips should allow you to receive a high conversion rate at an inexpensive price.

How to Increase Your Opt In List Subscriptions

By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Friday, March 5th, 2010

Marketing strategies and tips to show you how to and how NOT to capture leads.

When building an online business, opt in list subscriptions allow you to keep in contact with your customers. How can you get started with email marketing? If you want to create an effective subscription list, use these proven techniques.

1.) Utilize marketing programs already in existence.

When sending customer emails, include a link to your opt in page. If you send out paper statements, include an insert, which contains information about your opt in email list. Customers, who have purchased one of your products already, may show an increased interest in buying additional goods and services in the future.

2.) Conduct market research.

Find out what your clients are looking for. Short surveys engage your clients and interest them in the research process. After gaining basic information about a client, merchants should tailor their message to their customers’ interests in future promotions.

3.) Make the opt in subscription process easy.

Fewer fields yield improved results. Use large subscription buttons and highlighted fields. In order to ensure the highest conversion rates, keep the subscription box simple. Use a simple coloring scheme for your opt in box, which most internet users will recognize.

4.) Be clear.

When dealing with a wide audience, a clear message results in high conversion rates. Highlight the reasons that a visitor should subscribe to your opt in list. Long lists of benefits may send mixed signals to a prospective list subscriber.

5.) Be concise.

When trying to increase your opt in email list, include as few words as possible. Do not cheapen your points, but make them fast.

6.) Be compelling.

Convince your customer. Tell them why they need to become a subscriber. Forcing your client to divulge their personal information is a personal sacrifice. Give them a good reason to offer you their email address.

7.) Focus on your customer.

Customers respond to incentives. Offer them a free course or e-book. In order to entice buyers to sign up for their opt in list, online merchants may offer sales coupons or special promotional offers.

8.) Use word of mouth.

Viral marketing yields inexpensive results. A clear and concise message, focused entirely on your customers needs, will be passed around to others, ensuring increased business.

9.) Research your competitors.

Look at what your competitors are doing. You can gain valuable insight, by studying what techniques work for your competition.

When creating an opt in subscriber list, avoid these pitfalls.

1.) Do not offer amazing prizes

Federal laws exist regarding lotteries and make for a huge headache. In additional, prizes require too much personal information, which will lower your opt in signup rate. Instead, offer a token gift.

2.) Do not spam your email customers.

Sending emails, more than once a day, leads to customer fatigue. Soon, your emails will end up in the spam folder. Even worse, some customers may complain, ruining the relationship with your autoresponder service.

3.) Do not spend too much money acquiring email addresses.

While opt in lists are valuable, consider your conversion rate. When utilizing a service like Google Adsense to build your list, think about the cost per lead. Compare that number to the lifetime value of a potential customer.

4.) Do not badger your customers.

Some customers take months of work to cultivate. Don’t blow your chances with a prospective client. Make an effort to collect their information, but don’t go overboard.

Building a successful opt in email list takes patience and perseverance. If a particular email campaign does not work, you should not become frustrated. Successful opt in list campaigns may take months to develop. Glean what works, and try to improve upon your efforts.
