By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Link building is essential in today’s internet marketplace. Without good quality one way links to your website search engines will hardly even notice you. The main purpose of these links is to get higher ranking with search engines when someone types in a relevant keyword phrase.

These are basically links to your website (any page) pointing to relevant content. There are many strategies to actually obtain these back-links. The usual methods are to write good sales copy, articles and the most popular today, making videos. The most important thing to remember is the information must be relevant to the keywords used in the search. Next you must have back-links pointing to relevant content on your web pages. Then last but certainly not least, it has to be good content. The better it is the more likely your links could go viral, meaning more links and so on.

We cannot express how important good quality content is. Keep in mind, when your content is helpful and is giving people what they want you may very well acquire many quality back-links to your website. Then once you are able to create quality content you need to create a lot of it. Don’t sacrifice quality for quantity however, this is very important. Typically quality content needs to be added to your directories on a daily basis.
When time becomes an issue you simply outsource the content. You manage and review the content before submitting articles, videos and sales copy. Today there are online virtual assistants that with your direction, can actually deliver the amount of quality content you need to be successful online.

All this equates to traffic generation which no successful online business can do without. When it comes to internet market strategies we have a lot more free information on our website. To be successful online one needs to take the time to learn and use internet marketing skills.

Linking Basics – Link Wheels And How Do They Work?

By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

When it comes to SEO, or search engine optimisation, there are a lot of different methods and tactics that are used to help boost rankings. Some of these methods are effective and others are not. Some of these tactics are considered white-hat, while others forbidden. The SEO world is full of complicated terms and intricate techniques in order to help sites create organic traffic back to their sites. One of those methods is by using Link wheels. So what are link wheels and how do they work?

Link wheels are combinations of different links that will eventually all link back to your website. The theory behind this is, that if you get enough links back to your site from other high- ranking sites that you will improve your overall popularity with search engines. It will secure you a top spot among the search engines for keywords that are related to your site. When using this SEO method you need to do it carefully so that you do not get ‘marked negatively’ by popular search engines like Google. In order for this method to be effective you need to make sure that it is an ongoing process and not a link- building blitz. It is important to start with a few different sites and work on them every week so that search engines see that you are gradually building up links rather than blasting a ton of links once or twice and then never doing it again.

To be able to set up a link wheel there are few things that you have to do. First of all you will want to find a few article databases where you can submit content with links back to your site. When you find a few different highly ranked article submission sites, you then need to specify some certain keywords that you want to associate with your site. The best way to do this is to use tools like the Google Adwords Keyword tool to be able to find out how often people type in certain keywords every month. Once you have found some good ones then you need to write articles based around these keywords. When the articles have been created you should submit them on these sites with two backlinks (which should contain the highlighted keywords as the links, not the name of your site) that lead back to the website that you are targeting.

Once you have done the above, you will want to also create a squidoo lens or a hubpage that is then linked to the article that you have written. If you want to leave the “wheel” open then you need not do anymore. If you would like to close the “wheel ” then you should have your site link back to your hubpage so that it is a complete circle of links.

4 Free and Effective Search Engine Optimization Techniques

By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is one of the most basic and effective ways to drive targeted traffic to your website. As such, having a well optimized site can be financially beneficial to the owner. However, if the website owner is unable to carry out effective SEO in house, then the costs of outsourcing this task can run into hundreds of dollars.

In reality, there is plenty of online information, some good some not so good, on how to carry out SEO at minimum cost. This article covers four low cost SEO methods for the website owner to explore further and implement:

1. Link Exchange

Obtaining links to your website is generally considered key to effective SEO. One-way links are preferable but you are only likely to obtain these through natural means, that is by other webmasters choosing to make a ink to your site, although paid for one-way links are indeed possible. Another way to obtain links, two-way in this case, is to exchange links with another website. Depending on the websites that you exchange links with, this method is likely to cost you nothing at all. You will need to contact the owner of the website you want to have a link exchange with and arrange a link swap. After some time you should notice an increase in your website’s page ranking using this method of optimization.

2. Key Word Rich Articles

Writing and publishing truly informative and keyword-rich articles is one of the most effective ways to increase the visibilty of, and drive traffic to, your website. This process is usually completely free; you author your articles and publish them on reputable article directories. Careful use of the author resource box will enable you to provide a link back to your website. Take care when composing your articles – the readability and freshness of your written work will still be the basis of whether your readers keep on coming back to your website or not.

3. Domain Name Selection

The domain name that you choose for your website should, as closely as possible, be one of your keywords or at least be reflective of the niche you are targeting. It helps if the domain name is also short and easy to remember, this for the benefit of your visitors. Although registering a domain name is not free, the creativity behind its selection is.

4. Site Map and Site Navigation

You should set up a site map for your website to make it easier for the search engines to crawl. In addition, setting up an easy to navigate site is one way to make your visitors more at ease and spend more time browsing the site, as well as making revisits more likely. This, in turn, will improve the flow of traffic to your website.

Low cost SEO is always evolving and there are many methods that can very well land you on the top ten rankings of Google, or on any other search engines, for your chosen keyword. Some SEO methods may require considerable outlay, however there are techniques that can give you the same results at little or no cost.

How to Use SEO When Starting an Online Business

By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is considered by many to be difficult to understand. In this article I will discuss a practical and easy approach to applying SEO to your website and improve your organic search ranking.

To start I will discuss two factors to ensure you understand the basics of SEO. Search engine optimization involves “on-page” and “off page”, SEO.

On page SEO;
You will need to have relevant keywords in your URL, in your title and heading tags. Use keywords in your internal linking structure and in anchor text links. The wording used should be your keyword or directly related. Create relevant content (more is better) on every web page and use your link structure as a road map.

By following these steps you are optimizing your website so that search engines can see your site is relevant to the search. Now that the search engines basically now your website exists you need to optimize your off page SEO to help improve your organic page ranking.

Off page SEO;
You’re off page SEO should focus on building as many backlinks to website as possible. This can be done by writing articles about your product or service using the relevant keywords and then backlink these to your site. Then submit this content to an online article directory to be published on the internet. Social networking sites are all the rage today and just about all online businesses are taking advantage of this off page SEO. Videos are also a hot market to get your links out to the masses and that is what off page SEO is all about.

These two methods of SEO are absolutely necessary if you want to have a successful online business today. Keep in mind that although it may take a little time, it is not really very difficult. Many successful online businesses outsource much of this work so that they can focus more on their customer’s needs. However it is not uncommon for smaller online businesses to tackle search engine optimization today with the use of online business software which makes the process so much easier.

There is a lot more free information on how to create traffic generation at our website for those interested in learning more. The best advice we can offer anyone who wants to be successful on the internet is to learn the skills necessary to market online.

9 Ways to Improve Your Site’s Link Populariy

By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Link popularity is one of the factors the search engines consider when deciding where your site should appear in the search results.

9 Tips for Building Back Links

  1. Post comments in discussion groups and on message boards. Be sure to make useful, relevant statements based on topics being discussed.  Comments that only contain a link will usually be deleted or banned.  If you make valuable contributions, people will want to find out what else you have to say by visiting your site.
  2. Email other webmasters and simply ask for a link. Let them know why your website will benefit their readers, and provide a pre-coded html link for them to cut and paste to their page.
  3. Never underestimate the power of blogs.  Talk to bloggers about links and posts about your website.  The blogging community is ever-growing, and blogmasters are always looking for cool new things to post.
  4. Write a site review on your webpage and send the site’s webmaster a link. Who would pass up an opportunity to advertise a great testimonial?
  5. If your site distributes a newsletter, start a contest for ad space. Offer to advertise a website in your publication to the sites that offer you a free link.
  6. Write free articles for an article directory (search “article directory” in Yahoo! or Google for submission options).  This allows people to read your work and publish it for free.  Make sure to include a Bio Box that includes a link to your site.  Stipulate that the article may be reprinted for free as long as the Bio Box is included.  This will instantaneously provide extra links to your page when people reprint your work.
  7. Write to webmasters and compliment their site. Often, they will want to include your kind statements in a testimonial section, and a link to your site will give the quote credibility.
  8. Start your own reciprocal linking campaign.  Write to webmasters of quality, relevant sites that you want your readers to see.  Choose wisely!  Tell them why your site will benefit their readers, and show them how prominently their link will be displayed on your page.  Make sure to include a pre-made html link to your site that can be easily cut and pasted.
  9. Submit to as many directories as you can. Webmasters agree that directory submission is the BEST way to gain targeted traffic to your site.  By listing your site in a directory, web users will view your page as a reliable resource tailored specifically to their search criteria.

Google Says Old Links Have Lost Their Juice

By Chad Carlton · Comments (0) · Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Off-Page SEO Must Be Kept Current

Have your links lost their juice?

In an interview with Matt Cutts of Google we found out that you cannot count on old links giving you link juice forever. A link that may have helped boost you up the page ranks a year ago will no longer count if that page no longer exists.
Google counts it’s links in real time or currently active rather than an “of all time” status. Therefore, it is very important that you are continually adding one way links to your site. Otherwise, as your current links “expire” over time your SERP will fall due to a continual number of back links disappearing during the natural life cycle of a website.

Geocities and AOL Members pages are a prime example. Neither of those services exist today and consequently, any links from those sites that would have been counted by Google in your link popularity would be discarded and you would no longer receive any benefits from those expired links.

This is just one more reason that a link building strategy should always be a key part of your overall SEO plan.
